Their sponsored trip in May took them nine days, travelling 5,147 miles (8283 kilometres) through nine countries twice. What’s more, they wore their kilts all the way, even braving the snowy Arctic weather!

The pals chose to drive a Volvo 240 Estate to the Arctic, which was first registered on 21 May 1993.

An epic adventure!

Stephen, Alan and Archie set off from Angus and drove to Dover, crossing the Channel to Calais.  They then drove to Holland, through Denmark and crossed the Oresund Bridge to Sweden – the longest bridge in Europe at nearly 8 km in length. On reaching Gothenburg in Sweden, they were given a VIP Tour by the Volvo Museum! After that, they drove through Norway, to the snow covered Arctic Circle Centre in Storforshei where they were given another warm Scandinavian welcome.

Their phenomenal fundraising!

Our Scots to the Arctic adventurers raised a phenomenal £6,184.80 in sponsorship aid of our work! On returning home, their fundraising was inching towards the £5,000 mark, so they set themselves a stretch target of £5,147. This was to match the number of miles driven on their challenge.  In June, the pals headed to the Tayside Classic Car Show in Errol where they collected more donations, and just three days later hit £5,147 on their JustGiving page. Friends Euán, Adam, Sid, Garry and Kevin raised a further £1,000 via Robertson Home Safe. With Gift Aid, our adventurers final fundraising total reached £7,298.36. Their JustGiving page was the one of the most successful JustGiving pages last month. Out of thousands of fundraisers, they were in the Top 1%!

The funds raised have helped us to reach out to many more men and their families across Scotland, with information and support on prostate cancer and disease.

Thank you Scots to the Arctic – Stephen, Alan and Archie – for your phenomenal fundraising! And a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored them – we’re thrilled to see so much support from individuals, and local businesses and organisations. Thank you too, for your generosity.
